Order of Little House Books
Little House is a series of historical fiction children’s books by American author Laura Ingalls Wilder. The series is based on the childhood of Laura Ingalls Wilder, although it is still considered a fiction series rather than non-fiction. The series begins in the 1860’s and is set in the Midwestern United States. It focuses on the Ingalls family (although the second book in the series, Farmer Boy, tells the story of the man who would later become Laura’s husband, Almanzo Wilder). The family consists of Caroline (mother), Charles (father), Mary (daughter) and Laura (daughter and central character).
Although the most famous book in the series is Little House on the Prairie (published in 1935), the series began with Little House in the Big Woods in 1932. Below is a list of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House books in order of when they were originally published and also in chronological order:
