Dexter looks to have some competition on the market, as FX is developing a new series adapted from Chelsea Cain‘s Archie Sheridan/Gretchen Lowell series.

The first season is to be based on the novel Heartsick, which was published in 2007. The series follows detective Archie Sheridan who is on the trail of Lowell before she is able to get a hold of him first and torture him for days. Then, she surprisingly releases him and turns herself in. The book picks up where Archie returns to the force and a new killer emerges.

Subsequent seasons will be based on the subsequent novels in the series.
