Julian Stockwin is an English author of nautical action-adventure historical fiction novels. He writes the Kydd Sea Adventures series. Stockwin joined the Royal Navy when he was 15 years old. When his family moved to Australia, he was transferred to the Royal Australian Navy where he served for eight years. After studying at the University of Tasmania, he joined the Royal Navy Reserve where he gained the honour of the MBE and retired as a Lt. Commander. Graham Hurley is an English author of crime fiction novels as well as non-fiction books. He wrote the Faraday & Winter series (featuring D.I. Joe Faraday) and more recently has started the Jimmy Suttle series. Hurley earned his BA and MA in English from the University of Cambridge. During his career, he has written for the Portsmouth News, wrote plays and produced and director ITV documentaries. He left ITV in order to become a full-time writer in 1991. The Flashman Papers is a series of historical fiction novels by British author George MacDonald Fraser. The lead character of the series (Harry Flashman) was created by Fraser, but based on a character called Flashman that was created by Thomas Hughes for his novel Tom Brown’s School Days. Harry Flashman is a cowardly British soldier who has been expelled from school and has joined the military. He ends up being involved with several historical events during the 19th century all around the world from Britain to India, the Middle East, the U.S., Africa and Europe. Order of George MacDonald Fraser Books
George MacDonald Frasier (1925-2008) was a British author of historical fiction. He is best known for his Flashman Papers series as well as his McAuslan stories. He was born in England to Scottish parents and was very proud of his Scottish heritage. Fraser served in the Burma Campaign during World War II and then with the Gordon Highlanders in the Middle East and North Africa after the war, which is what he drew upon for his McAuslan stories. Following his service, he started working for the Carlisle Journal where he met his wife, Kathleen. His daughter, Caro Fraser, is also a novelist. (more…)

Doctor Who is a multi-author series of science fiction novels based on a popular British franchise that originally debuted in 1963. The series was created for television by Sydney Newman, C.E. Webber and Donald Wilson. The lead character is known as The Doctor, a time-travelling alien known as a Time Lord, who travels the universe in a spaceship called the TARDIS (which appears in the form of a 1960s London police box), saving civilizations, helping people out and righting various wrongs. Over the course of five decades, The Doctor has been portrayed by different actors (as he is able to regenerate into different forms), including William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi, and Jodie Whittaker. David Gibbins is a British-Canadian author of thriller novels. In addition to being a novelist, he is also an underwater archaeologist. He writes the Jack Howard series. David was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and travelled across the world with his parents when he was young. He spent four years in New Zealand. Later, he would attend the University of Bristol in England, where he received a first class honours degree in Ancient Mediterranean Studies. He followed it up with a PhD in Archaeology from Cambridge University and Corpus Christi College. He currently divides his time between fieldwork, England and Canada. (more…)

Giles Blunt is a Canadian author of crime fiction/mystery novels. He writes the John Cardinal series. He grew up in North Bay, Ontario, which he has based the setting of his John Cardinal series on. He also works as a screenwriter and has written for shows such as Law & Order, Street Legal and Night Heat. Giles won the Arthur Ellis Award for Best Novel in 2004 for his novel The Delicate Storm and the CWA Silver Dagger Award in 2001 for Forty Words for Sorrow. (more…)
