Order of Mary Pope Osborne Books
Mary Pope Osborne is an American author of children’s books and young adult novels, best known for her Magic Tree House fantasy/adventure series for children. She is also the author of the Tales from the Odyssey series. Mary grew up as an army brat and lived in Oklahoma, Austria, Florida and North Carolina. The lifestyle she lived growing up has definitely left a mark on Mary, giving her peripatetic tendencies and a love of adventure that she channelled into her writing. Mary served as President of the Authors Guild from 1993 to 1997.
Mary Pope Osborne became a published author in 1982 with the semi-autobiographical Run, Run, As Fast As You Can about a young girl who grew up in a military family. A publisher would eventually suggest to her to start a children’s book series, so Mary spent the next year planning what became the Magic Tree House series.
