Stephen King fans will be looking forward to 2013, as the sequel to The Shining entitled Doctor Sleep will be released on January 15th from Scribner. And to get you even more excited, the synopsis for the book has just been released:

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has been given the honour of receiving the “Freedom of the City of London” due to her contributions in children’s literature. The British novelist has sold more than 450 million copies of her Harry Potter books.

Oxford undergraduate Samantha Shannon, who has been touted as “the next J.K. Rowling” (no pressure) has signed a six-figure deal with Bloomsbury. Shannon’s futuristic fantasy novel, The Bone Season, was purchased immediately after Bloomsbury’s editor-in-chief Alexandra Pringle read it.
