Lucinda Riley is an Irish author of historical and general fiction novels. She writes the Seven Sisters series – the television rights for which were purchased by producer Raffaella De Laurentiis. Lucinda was born in Ireland, but travelled a lot during her childhood – a lot of which was to the Far East to see her father. She ended up moving to London to work as an actress in film, theatre and television. Lucinda is married with four children and splits her time between Norfolk, England and the South of France. Henry James (1843-1916) was an American-British author of literary fiction novels and stories. A common theme in his novels was American ex-pats living in Europe. His plots were based around personal relationships, the proper usage of power in such relationships, and other moral questions. His imaginative use of point of view, interior monologue and unreliable narrators in his work brought an extra layer of depth to realistic fiction, and foreshadowed the modernist work of the 20th century. James was a prolific writer, in addition to his many works of fiction, he published articles and books on a variety of topics and wrote plays, some of which were performed during his lifetime to some success. Olivia Manning (1911-1980) was an Anglo-Irish author. Her novels usually had to do with personal journeys, set in England, Ireland and the Middle East – using drawing on her own experiences. After growing up in England and Ireland, she married British Council lecturer R.D. Smith and spent time in Romania, Greece, Egypt and Palestine, before returning to England. Olivia didn’t gain much fame until her Balkan and Levant trilogies were adapted into the “Fortunes of War” TV series in 1987 – seven years after her death. (more…)

James Thompson (1964-2014) was an American-Finish author of crime fiction novels. He wrote the Inspector Vaara series. James was born and raised in eastern Kentucky, but spent the last years of his life in Finland. During this time, she was writing every day – from user manuals to interactive dramas. Rachel sold the company in 2000 and moved with her husband from England to Italy where they bought and restored a 15th century monastery that they operated for weddings and holidays.
