Order of Ralph Compton Books
Ralph Compton (1934-1998) was an American novelist of western novels. He created the Trail Drive and Sundown Riders series. Compton hailed from St. Clair County, Alabama and stood 6’8″ tall when he wasn’t even wearing his boots. Before becoming an author, he was a musician, songwriter, radio announcer and a newspaper columnist. Following his death, his publisher Signet made his name into a house name, and novels written by authors such as Robert Vaughn, Dusty Richards, Jory Sherman, Joseph A. West, David Robbins, Ralph W. Cotton, Peter Brandvold, Marcus Galloway, Matthew P. Mayo and more had his name on the byline. (more…)

The Uglies is a series of YA science fiction novels by American novelist Scott Westerfeld. The series is set in the future where sixteen year-olds are given cosmetic surgery in order to turn them “Pretty.” The series follows Tally Youngblood, who decides to rebel against the system when her friends enlighten her to the negatives of what the surgery does; that it not only changes your looks, but also changes your personality. Scott Westerfeld is an American author of science fiction and young adult novels. He writes the Succession duology, Midnighters trilogy, Uglies series, Peeps series and the Leviathan series. His novel Evolution’s Darling was a New York Times Notable Book in 2000 and also received a Special Citation for the Philip K. Dick Award. Other awards he has won include the Victorian Premier’s Award for So Yesterday, the Aurealis Award for The Secret Hour and a 2010 Locus Award for Best Young Adult Fiction for his novel Leviathan. The Medieval Murderers are a group of authors who write a series of historical mystery collections. The authors who encompass the Medieval Murderers are Michael Jecks (founder), C.J. Sansom, Bernard Knight, Susanna Gregory, Philip Gooden, Ian Morson and Karen Maitland. The novels are linked to the various authors’ characters, who appear in the stories authored by the respective authors (ie. Crowner John appears in Bernard Knight stories, Sir Baldwin is featured in Michael Jecks stories and William Falconer in stories by Ian Morson). The Knights Templar series is a series of historical mystery novels by British author Michael Jecks. The series follows Sir Baldwin Furnshill, who was at one time a Knight Templar, along with his friend Simon Puttock, Bailiff of Lydford Castle. Michael Jecks is an English author of historical mystery novels and stories. He writes the Knights Templar Mysteries series and also founded the Medieval Murderers – a group of historical fiction writers who collaborate together on a series of novellas and novels. Before becoming a novelist, Jecks worked in the computer industry until he was forced to switch careers after getting fired. He was Chairman of the Crime Writers’ Association from 2004 for one year. Ellery Queen is the collective pen name of the writing team consisting of cousins Frederic Dannay (Daniel Nathan) and Manfred Bennington Lee (Manford Lepofsky), who wrote detective fiction together. Most of their novels featured a fictional character also by the name of Ellery Queen. The character has been adapted to TV, film and radio. In addition to the Ellery Queen novels, the cousins also wrote a series featuring a Shakespearean actor named Drury Lane (writing as Barnaby Ross). (more…)

Karin Alvtegen is a Swedish author of Scandinavian crime fiction/psychological thriller novels. She won the Glass Key Scandinavian crime fiction award in 2001 among several other nominations and shortlistings for highly-regarded awards. In addition to writing novels, she has also written for a Swedish soap opera and has written a screenplay. She is the great-niece of Pippi Longstockings author Astrid Lindgren.
