Eric Flint was an American author of science fiction, alternate history and fantasy novels and short stories. Flint also works as an editor and as an e-publisher for the Baen Free Library. He is best known for his 1632 series. Flint got his PhD in History, but left the program due to political issues. From there, he worked various jobs until he got serious about writing and became a full-time writer in 1999. Val McDermid Gets Ink’d

Following an appearance as a guest speaker Sunderland University lecture, a woman in a blonde wig and a trilby hat poured ink on Scottish novelist Val McDermid.

“The last person in the queue had a very old copy of a non-fiction book I published back in the 1990s, then demanded I sign a Top Of The Pops annual with a picture of Jimmy Savile, which I didn’t want to sign because I thought it wasn’t appropriate,” she said. (more…)
