Tom Cruise Defends “Jack Reacher” Casting
Written by Ella Thomson on Wednesday, December 12th, 2012Jack Reacher fans have been up-in-arms ever since Tom Cruise was cast as the character. The main reason? Because Reacher is written as 6’5″ and over 200 lbs., whereas Cruise is 5’7″ (at best) and trim.
“You know, [Lee Child] created the character, I had my own opinion that I didn’t say to Lee and then he came back and pretty much reflected what I had felt about it. But had he said ‘look, I’d rather not,’ I would not have played the character,” Cruise said. (more…)

This London Metropolitan Police team is one of the first male-female teams as central characters in fiction. Brock is older and more experienced, whereas Kathy is trying to follow his example. Roger Zelazny (1937-1995) was an American author of science fiction and fantasy, in both novel and short story format. He is best known for his Chronicles of Amber series. His novels tended to utilize various mythologies – anything from Greek mythos to Navajo and everything inbetween. His dialogue was minimalistic, almost as if he were writing hardboiled fantasy.
