Glen Cook is an American novelist of science fiction and fantasy. He is best known for his series The Black Company. He got interested in writing when he was in grade school and later began writing the high school newspaper. He served in the Navy and went through college, but that didn’t allow him much time to write. He would begin to pick up his craft when he was working for GM and would write as many as three novels per year, which is when he conceived the idea for The Black Company. (more…)

Alistair MacLean’s UNACO is fictional U.N. agency created by Alistair MacLean for a series of movie outlines. These outlines were used for the basis of a series of thriller novels by authors such as Alastair MacNeill, John Denis and Hugh Miller. Vanessa Diffenbaugh is an American author. She studied creative writing at Stanford and went on to teach art and writing in low-income communities. She is also the founder of the Camellia Network, the goal of which is to create a nationwide movement to support youth transitioning from foster care. Andy McNab Autobiographical Short Offered in Quick Reads 2013 Program

Andy McNab will be releasing an autobiographical short through Quick Reads in 2013. Among the other titles offered will be a Doctor Who short story.

Goosebumps is a series of children’s horror novels by American novelist R.L. Stine. The series mixes horror, supernatural elements and humour. Upon launch, the series gained tremendous success and spawned a television series hosted by Stine that lasted four seasons. There is a new protagonist in every book, which can either be male or female and are middle class kids. Stine considers the fact that the books do not contain drugs, depravity and violence to be a major factor in Goosebumps’ success. The books range from 110-140 pages. (more…)

Fear Street is a series of young adult horror novels by American author R.L. Stine. The series takes place in a fictional city called Shadyside, set somewhere on the East Coast. More specifically, the street it’s on is named after the cursed Fear family. In comparison to Stine’s Goosebumps series, it is more gruesome, bloody, gorey and there are deaths. Although the series deals with the paranormal such as ghosts, many of the books involve murder mysteries. (more…)
