BBC News has reported that popular Irish novelist Maeve Binchy has passed away at the age of 72 following a brief illness. Maeve penned a number of bestsellers, including Circle of Friends, Evening Class, Heart and Soul, Tara Road and Minding Frankie.

Stephen King is currently working on the sequel to The Shining, Doctor Sleep, but meanwhile Warner Bros. is looking at a film prequel to the film directed by the late Stanley Kubrick. The studio has contacted writer/producer Laeta Kalogridis and partners Bradley Fischer and James Vanderbilt about working on a story for the potential sequel.
