Helene Tursten is a Swedish novelist of Scandinavian crime fiction. Her novels feature the character Detective Inspector Irene Huss. Prior to becoming her writing career, Tursten worked as a nurse and as a dentist before she left due to health reasons. During this illness, she translated medical articles for a living.
Helene Tursten became a published author in her native language of Swedish in 1998 with the novel that became Detective Inspector Huss, which was published in English in 2003. The deceased male landed on the sidewalk right infront of his apartment. The man was a wealthy financier who had connections with the most powerful families in the country. Upon investigation, it turns out that the death was no suicide at all. More people turn up dead and Inspector Huss must content with gangs, skinheads, immigrants and neo-Nazis on a quest to uncover a killer.
