Ed Greenwood is a Canadian author of fantasy novels. He is best known for creating the Forgotten Realms world, but has also written other series such as the Band of Four series. Greenwood had conceived of Forgotten Realms when he was young and when he got into Dungeons & Dragons, he used it as a campaign setting. When game company TSR was looking for a new setting, they found Greenwood and were impressed with his campaign world and decided to use it for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.
