Kenzie/Gennaro is a series of crime fiction novels by American novelist Dennis Lehane. The series features Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro, who started out as childhood friends and eventually became private eyes, running their own detective agency in Boston. Val McDermid To Re-Write “Northanger Abbey”; Other Austen Re-Writes Planned

Crime fiction novelist Val McDermid is looking to re-write the classic Jane Austen novel Northanger Abbey as part of a new series from HarperFiction. The updated edition of the novel is planned for Spring 2014.

Other Jane Austen novels being re-written include Sense & Sensibility by Joanna Trollope and Pride & Prejudice by Curtis Sittenfeld. (more…)

In the “Say it ain’t so!” department, erotica publishers are now looking to literary classics such as Jane Austen‘s Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte as their next cash cows, in light of the wave of success of the Fifty Shades series.

Mommy Porn or Baby Porn? Erotica Author Weighs in on “Fifty Shades”

Some say that E.L. JamesFifty Shades trilogy is too graphic. Others, like erotica author Shirley Conran says it’s not risque enough.

James’ books have been dubbed “mommy porn.” Conran, like James, disagrees with this label, but for a very different reason. She says it’s more like “infantile baby porn.” She notes that there’s no real S&M until 400 pages in. (more…)

Dennis Lehane is an American author of crime fiction and mystery novels. His series is the Kenzie/Gennaro series, but he is perhaps best known for having written the novels Mystic River and Shutter Island, which were made into motion pictures by Clint Eastwood and Martin Scorsese respectively. In addition to his work as a novelist, Lehane has written multiple episodes of The Wire and an episode of Castle. (more…)

Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) was an American author and one of the most influential authors of the 20th century. He lived a very adventurous life that is well-documented. He saw action in the First World War (being seriously wounded by mortar fire) and worked as a journalist in World War II. As a novelist, some of his most famous works include The Sun Also Rises, A Farewell to Arms, For Whom the Bell Tolls and The Old Man and the Sea. He survived two back-to-back plane crashes, which tragically led to Hemingway committing suicide in 1961 at the age of 61. (more…)

The main character in the series is Richard Sharpe, a British rifleman who fought in the Napoleonic Wars. The books follow Sharpe’s progress in the British army.
