The Boy Fortune Hunters series is a series of young adult adventure novels by American novelist L. Frank Baum, using the pseudonyms of Capt. Hugh Fitzgerald and later Floyd Akers. Unlike most of Baum’s work, the series is told in first person narrative by the protagonist, 16 year-old Sam Steele. Sam’s father is a sea captain who was reported killed in a shipwreck. The franchise was created with the L. Frank Baum novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which was adapted to the 1939 classic film The Wizard of Oz. In it, a young girl named Dorothy Gale is sent into the Land of Oz thanks to a tornado, where she must seek out the Wizard of Oz to get her home. L. Frank Baum (1856-1919) was an American author of children’s literature and fantasy novels. He is most famous for creating the Land of Oz, including The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which was made into one of the most-watched classic films of all time, The Wizard of Oz. He would follow that novel up with 13 sequels. Baum was able to predict inventions such as television, augmented reality, laptops and wireless phones. New Stephen King TV Series Hits CBS This Summer

Under the Dome is the next Stephen King novel to make TV – as a series on CBS, no less. The post-apocalyptic novel is about a small town in New England that suddenly gets sealed off by a large transparent dome. Nobody knows how it came to be or how to get rid of it.

“This is a great novel coming to the television screen with outstanding auspices and in-season production values to create a summer programming event,” said Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment. “We’re excited to transport audiences Under the Dome and into the extraordinary world that Stephen King has imagined.” (more…)

Order of Frederik Pohl Books


Frederik Pohl is an American author of science fiction whose work has spanned over 70 years. In 1993, he was named a Nebula Grand Master and was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame in 1998. He started out editing pulp magazines, writing stories for them that would appear under pen names. Frederick would frequently collaborate with Cyril M. Kornbluth, Jack Williamson, Dirk Wylie and Robert A.W. Lownes. Pohl also acquired and edited novels for Bantam Books in the 1970s. Frederik lives in the Chicagoland area. (more…)

Bryant and May is a series of crime fiction/mystery novels by English novelist Christopher Fowler. The series follows Arthur Bryant and John May, two detectives who are part of the Peculiar Crimes Unit, a fictional unit in London. The series is set between World War II and present times. The series often includes flashbacks to earlier times when an incident from the detectives’ past is relevant.
