After joining the Romance Writers of America, she realized that writing novels was much more fun than working as a banker. It was then that she decided to make a career change and writing went from being a hobby to a profession. Aside from reading and writing, Melinda also enjoys martial arts; she has a 2nd degree black belt in Kenpo Karate, studies Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and also teaches self-defense for women.
