The series begins when a pair of 15 year-old twins, Sophie and Josh, find out that one of their employers (and title character, Nicholas Flamel) is an immortal and is in grave danger without the Codex – which the twins themselves are mentioned in. One of his books, The Monuments Men has been optioned for film by George Clooney (who will write, produce, direct and star in the film). Before becoming an author, Edsel was a nationally ranked tennis player and worked in the oil exploration industry. He is also the founder of the Monuments Men Foundation for the Preservation of Art.
