Order of Anne McCaffrey Books


Anne McCaffrey (1926-2011) was an American-Irish novelist of science fiction, fantasy and planetary romance. She is best known for her Dragonriders of Pern series and the novel The Ship Who Sang. She got the inspiration for another one of her well known novels, Restoree, when she saw how women were portrayed in science fiction, while their men would be the ones fighting the aliens, thus it was important to her to create a stronger female lead character. McCaffrey would receive dozens among dozens of awards for her work and was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame in 2006. She died at age 85 from a stroke. (more…)

Michael Palmer (1942-2013) was an American novelist of medical thrillers. Before becoming a novelist, Michael Palmer spent 20 years practicing medicine. Palmer didn’t originally want to be an author, but after reading Coma by Robin Cook (a fellow Wesleyan grad), he realized he could too. New “Little House” Film Adaptation in the Works?

Sony Pictures is looking at adapting the Laura Ingalls Wilder book Little House on the Prairie (actually, the entire Little House series) into a film.

“The Casual Vacancy” Removed from #1 Spot on Amazon List

After being on sale for less than a week, The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan has toppled The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling on Amazon’s bestseller list.

The fact that Rowling has been removed from the top spot so quick is surprising. One theory is that the fact that the fact that the book got one million preorders may have affected post-release sales.
