John Updike
John Updike (1932-2009) was an American novelist, poet, short story writer and essayist. He is perhaps best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning Harry “Rabbit” Angstrom series, including the novels Rabbit, Run, Rabbit Redux, Rabbit is Rich and a novella entitled Rabbit Remembered. He began his career as a staff writer with The New Yorker and became associated with the publication, despite only working there for two years. Besides writing more than twenty novels and many short story and poetry collections, Updike was also considered one of the best American literature and art critics of his generation. (more…)

Tamar Myers is a Congan-born American author of mystery novels. She writes the Pennsylvania Dutch Mysteries, Den of Antiquity Mysteries and Belgian Congo Mysteries. Tamar is the daughter of missionaries to a headhunter tribe that drank out of human skulls. After Congo got its independence from Belgium, her family fled, only to return shortly afterward. Finally, after living through years of civil wars, Tamar’s family moved to the United States when she was 16. When she got there, she couldn’t use a phone, didn’t know what a stoplight was or use a vending machine. Luckily for her, she soon met her future husband on the first day in high school.
