Order of Blood/Smoke Books


The Blood series is an urban fantasy series by Canadian novelist Tanya Huff that mixes in themes of detective fiction. The central characters of the series are former police office Vicki Nelson and historical romance author Henry Fitzroy (who happens to be a vampire). Fitzroy was the illegitimate son of Henry VIII before becoming a vampire. Vicki’s nickname is “Victory,” for her successful record of investigations. The two team up in order to battle supernatural threats. The series takes place throughout Canada – mostly in Toronto, London and Vancouver. The series was adapted into the TV series Blood Ties that aired on CBC and Lifetime. Following the Blood series, Tanya spun-off Henry Fitzroy’s protege Tony Foster into a new series called Smoke. Tanya Huff is a Canadian novelist of fantasy and science fiction. Her series include the Blood series, Smoke series, Keeper’s Chronicles, Valor Confederation and a few smaller series. While studying at Ryerson in Toronto, she was in the same class as Robert J. Sawyer where they would collaborate on a final assignment together. “Divergent” a Hit With Teens

A new survey says that teens love Veronica Roth and her novel Divergent.

The American Library Association’s YA division announced on Monday that Divergent was the #1 favourite book of online teen voters between August 15-September 15. The novel has often been compared to The Hunger Games. (more…)

“Wimpy Kid” Goes Digital; eBooks Coming Soon

Amulet Books, an imprint of Abrams, announced Monday that it will be releasing eBook editions of the first six books in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series by Jeff Kinney. They will become available on October 30th.

As for the seventh book, The Third Wheel, it will be released on November 13th in hardcover and eBook formats. (more…)

Bret Easton Ellis is an American novelist who considers himself to be a satirist. He is a member of the literary “Brat Pack,” along with Tama Janowitz and Jay McInerney. His style falls into the postmodernist and transgressive movements. Although he does not write novels in series, some of his characters are recurring.
