Janette Oke is a Canadian author of Christian inspirational fiction. She writes several series, including the Love Comes Softly, Seasons of the Heart, Canadian West, Women of the West, Prairie Legacy, Song of Acadia (with T. Davis Bunn) and Acts of Faith (also with Bunn) series. She also has written a series of children’s books called Janette Oke’s Animal Friends series. Her novels feature female protagonists and are often set during pioneer times. Janette has been married to her husband, Edward, since 1957. Jojo Moyes is a British author of romance novels. She has won the Romantic Novel of the Year Award twice from the Romantic Novelists’ Association. She got into journalism when she won a bursary from the newspaper The Independent in order to attend a postgrad journalism course at City University in London. Since then, Jojo has written for The Independent, Hong Kong’s Sunday Morning Post and The Daily Telegraph. Thursday Next is the protagonist in a series of comic fantasy/alternate history novels by British author Jasper Fforde. Thursday Next works as a literary detective. Described as “feisty and loveable,” she is in her mid-30s and is the daughter of Colonel and Wednesday Next. The series is set in an alternate universe where England is a republic that has elected George Formby as its first president. Jasper Fforde is an English novelist of alternate history and comic fantasy postmodernist novels. He is best known for writing his Thursday Next series. His writing uses a lot of wordplay, metafiction, parody and are scripted in a tight manner. Fforde attended the Dartington Hall School, and before becoming an author, worked as a focus puller for several films (including GoldenEye). Before becoming a novelist, Judith worked as an assistant director, for a major trucking company, as president of an employment agent, president of an executive search firm and was also the first female executive producer for a CBS radio station. Tom Harper is the pen name of German-born English author Edwin Thomas, who writes historical fiction and thriller novels. He writes the Martin Jerrold and Demetrios Askiates series, along wit several standalone novels. Harper was born in Frankfurt and grew up in Belgium and Connecticut. He went on to study history at Lincoln College Oxford. After working for a few years, he decided to enter the CWA Debut Dagger contest, where he got runner-up. (more…)
