Easy Rawlins is the protagonist in a series of historical mystery novels by American author Walter Mosley. Easy is a WWII vet-turned-hardboiled detective based out of Los Angeles. The books are set in the 1940s up to the 1960s. The series takes a hard look at racial inequities experienced by African-Americans. Walter Mosley is an American novelist of crime fiction and historical mystery novels. He is best known for his hardboiled detective series featuring Easy Rawlins. Mosley’s father was an African-American clerk in the U.S. Army and his mother was a personnel clerk of Russian-Jewish descent. As an only child, he used his imagination to fill the void that he would later be able to hone into his fiction career. His inspirations include Dashiell Hammett, Graham Greene and Raymond Chandler. In 1992, presidential candidate Bill Clinton named him as one of his favourite authors. (more…)

Stephen King Short Story To Be Adapted To Film

Universal has brought on director Peter Cornwell, screenwriter Matt Greenberg and lead actor Frances O’Connor. The film will be re-titled Mercy. (more…)

Kathy Reichs Signs 3-Book Deal With Ballantine Bantam Dell
Written by Jenny Brady on Saturday, October 27th, 2012Kathy Reichs has signed a three-book deal with Ballantine Bantam Dell to published her Temperance Brennan suspense novels in North America. The series is the inspiration for the Fox TV series Bones.
The deal was negotiated by president/publisher of Random House, Gina Centrello. Jennifer Hershey will serve as editor, with the first novel in the deal to be published in 2014 under the Bantam imprint. (more…)
