Each month we ask our Facebook followers for a book or series recommendation based on a particular genre or similar parameters – and then print the answers in our mid-month newsletter.

I thought it would be a good idea to have a separate page listing these, as I use it as a reference guide often.

This list is of the Desert Island Series which was first posted in the February 2021 Newsletter.

We asked “if you were stranded on a desert island but could take one book series with you, what would it be?” and our readers really ran with it. It’s one thing to name your favorite book, it’s another to only have one book series for the rest of your life! We got some really great answers here.

Everyone is different though so if there is a book series that you would take to a desert island that you don’t see here, let us know in the comments and we’ll add it.

The alphabet series by Sue Grafton is wonderful. Unfortunately, Ms. Grafton died before she could finish with the letter Z, but the first 25 letters will hold your attention! So entertaining. About a female detective, Kinsey Millhone, who finds herself in all kinds of situations and trouble and has to solve all the mysteries and crimes she becomes involved in. She loves Big Macs and French fries when she is out on a case, but her go to meal when she is home is a peanut butter and dill pickle sandwich. I truly regret that Ms. Grafton passed before she got to write the “Z” book. I would definitely read whatever she started next because I loved her style and her imagination!

I would have a hard time choosing one series to read for the rest of my life. But, J.D. Robb and Nevada Barr would definitely be tied, along with Sue Grafton, for 1st place. Good stuff!
